Founded in 2008, this group of economic developers from the counties along I-16 formed an alliance to promote and grow the interstate corridor from Macon to Savannah.
The idea to form the alliance came from the Georgia Ports Authority website, where an interactive map shows the counties that are along the interstate as well as on other major transportation arteries.
The twelve counties along the corridor include: Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Bleckley, Laurens, Treutlen, Emanuel, Candler, Bulloch, Effingham, Bryan and Chatham. These include the cities of Macon, Dublin, Statesboro, and Savannah, among others. Within these twelve counties, you will find:
- more than 690,000 people
- more than 5,000 square miles
- (3) Tier 4 counties
- (1) Tier 3 county
- (2) Tier 2 counties
- (6) Tier 1 counties
